Hi we're getting our floor tiles done in the downstairs bathroom soon and we wanted to replace the basin with a corner one, but the waste pipe is a problem.

Is it possible? without having to cut a hole through the middle?

How to hide the gap though? plus we want to tile round the basin that's why I'm thinking it's not going to be possible.

only way to do it really would be to re-locate the waste, is there a service void at the back of the vanity and take the waste back tight to the corner?

I don't think there is it looks tight up against the wall in pictures which would mean cutting into the back I suppose.

Ah nope, there isn't, doesn't mean you couldn't make one though. It would need a bit of an alteration of the cabinet, with a hole cored at the back corner in the base and clip the back corner off of the shelf and then use black waste pipe, that should be relatively easy if someone's handy.

Yes that's what I thought don't know how I feel about that when it's going to cost £150ish.

Those ones are designed for an out the wall waste pipe rather than an up from the floor.

Drill up first for the first few mm to get the position right and then once the pilot is all the way through cut down from the top and there shouldn't be any break out, ease off on the pressure when nearly through.

That looks like either a waterless (HEPvO or similar) or a straight through (pedestal) trap. A bottle will be smaller and a P trap even less. Paint the trap black too.

Yes it's been hard to find a corner unit in black.

With the plumbing what would you do?

As you can see the bottom part is at an angle then goes straight up.

From what I've read p traps are better than bottle?. If I added a p trap I could then maybe line it up with the bottom, but it would be straight down.

If I can figure out how to do the plumbing I might give it ago.

Depends on how much play is on that pipe coming out of the floor. If there's enough to cut the 45 off and then add another to take it back to the corner then it's doable. Maybe even cut and lift the tile around it to get more pipe to work with.

If it was me I'd probably be able to make it work but I work with that stuff all the time.

The 45 is about 17-20cm. I think it's glued? So would you put another 45 on going the opposite way then straight and connecting to the p trap?

I'm going to start removing the floor tiles this week. I've also asked a plumber how much.

I've had a doodle helps me get a rough idea.

I'd carefully cut and peel away the lower socket of that SW 45 degree bend and then after a thoroughly good clean up, extend the pipe upwards by adding a double SW socket. . . yes, it is doable. The skirting has to be cut where the sides of the unit will meet the wall, so once that has been done, the position of the pipe can be measured in relation to the wall. Once that has been established, a hole can be cut in the base of the unit with an appropriately sized hole saw, and the same for the shelf. With all that done, the unit can be fixed to the wall and pipework added to complete the plumbing.

I didn't think about having to cut the skirting, that should be doable, wonder if a dremel would cut that,i take it I'd cut it a few mm enough to slide the unit in between.

I've no idea what a SW socket is when I Google it brings up wall sockets

SW my shorthand for Solvent Weld. That is a system of joining ABS waste pipe. The other type of system is Push Fit, which IMO is inferior to SW.

ABS = Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, a form of thermoplastic polymer.

Nope, I'd just cut the 45 of the stub of pipe out of the floor, then glues on another one, turned towards the corner then glue on another one to bring it back vertically, where the back corner of the unit will be, then take it straight up and then a swept bend and then into the P trap. yes, cut eh skirting to where the unit will be, so it ends up tight to the wall

Solvent Weld (SW) is a solvent cement (glue) that sticks ABS pipes and fittings together, just as your 45 is attached at the moment. Fit it all dry to get it all lined up before gluing, pencil mark it all so you know where it all needs to fit together
