What about one of those air pressure toilet plungers?
Are these better than the rod and plunger method?

I’ve never used one, but as per @Hugh Jaleak, 4”rubber hasn’t failed me much, only when the main drain is blocked. Are these better than the rod and plunger method?
I think they should be - I’ve never tried them but I’m sure a plumber can tell you.Are these better than the rod and plunger method?
thanks mate, ill see if i need the 4" rubber and rod tomorrow after the overnight bleach method attempt.I’ve never used one, but as per @Hugh Jaleak, 4”rubber hasn’t failed me much, only when the main drain is blocked.

i will probably be charged if it was my doingIf your renting then get the landlord/ owner to sort it out
thanks for your suggestion mate, no harm trying this tomorrow, i can use my kitchen bin, im steeping beach overnight anywaysA full 2-gallon bucket of water emptied rapidly down the loo can clear quite severe blockages.
Those should be ok for what you need to do. Ensure the Plunger is securely attached before getting too excited with it, but equally you're trying to create some 'bow waves' of water behind the blockage to move it, doesn't need to be so vigorous as to risk breaking the WC Pan!Many thanks for your reply. What about this set from Toolstation £32 ?
So do you recommend doing this from the actual toilet and not the manhole?

Yes, Plunge the Pan, that's the narrowest point in the whole system usually, if its an upstairs WC I'd be very surprised if the stack is blocked.
