OMG....poor Lindsey Vonn

Broken leg

The need to be able to use 2 skis is over-rated.

That is actually quite impressive, he obviously has great balance like I have, He would make a good snowboarder, I wonder if they do interchange between the two disciplins.

Talking to a joiner at work today about snowboarding and he reckons there is nothing special about a pair of skis ad he could knock a pair up out of a length of 2" X 4". He said its just the stigma why people buy them, might get him to make me some as timber is cheap enough.

OMG....poor Lindsey Vonn

I was saddened by the fall, but... should she really have raced?

After that, I was hooked on the heli rescue techniques employed. I have been a winchman in another life, and we would NEVER lift a patient that way, hundreds of feet in the air. I believe I know why... the helicopters employed use clamshell doors at the rear to loads patients, but the accident site was too steep to land the limits are quite tight, so they used the winch and stretcher. That meant she and the winchman were effectively underslung loads on the wire.

We would hover above as they did, use the helicopter to lift the stretcher- the winches we used would snatch/jerk the patient; then stay low (15/20') till the stretcher was in the door. Then transition away.

Yesterday gave me the heebies...

Those crews are the dog's danglies mind, gotta say.

As everyone knows I am a helicopter expert, I would have landed on the slope, gamboled out grabbed the girl over my shoulder and flew off.....

Exactly, I used to surf on an ironing board all the time.
