Decaf Tea

I was banned from caffeine and Alcohol when we went through our 2nd round of IVF

I read up about the decaffeination Process. Some decaf is processed with chemicals like methylene chloride. While regulatory bodies consider the residual amounts to be safe, the Swiss Water Method or CO2 process is better.

However Mrs Bod put me on Redbush. Hated it first of all but it kept coming. Now I wont have a normal tea again. I loved a good cup of tea, but now I can taste the tannin, and its not nice. The Redbush (Tiktock) is good for you and has no Caffeine.

I was talking to myself about this today.
I dont believe I could willingly give up coffee. My coffee is so good its just not something Id do unless it was life or death.

However a previous conversation if I had to give up alcohol or Coffee, which would it be?

I really didn't know. But now Ive been of the beer for 5 weeks, and I feel great for it. I couldn't do 5 weeks off the coffee.

Ive not tasted an alcohol free lager thats thst good, but the Guinness 0% is pretty good and it fits with my diet.
I love a good quality coffee. I used to buy organic Honduras beans from a hippy shop in Wellington where I used to live but they went bust. I've not found any decaf coffee beans that even come close.

I once built a basic machine to extract caffeine from coffee using supercritical carbon dioxide.

I’ve given up smoking, party drugs, cut down on wine, porn needs a passport

Feck me, I love a strong cup of tea! When I can’t have one, I’ll give up.

Ginger tea tonight so as not to break my fast.

A filter then

No, I really did. Supercritical fluids are a fourth phase of matter after solid, liquid and gas.

They have some of the solvating power of liquids and some of the dispersal power of gases. They are useful in a small number of niche applications, one of which is using supercritical CO2 to decaffeinate tea and coffee.

AI Overview

The type of CO2 used to decaffeinate coffee is
supercritical carbon dioxide

This process, often referred to as supercritical fluid extraction or the Zosel process (developed by Kurt Zosel), uses carbon dioxide heated and pressurized above its critical point.

I could not give up coffee and if my Sage broke, I’d immediately go out and replace it at any cost. I’ve even considered having one as a backup.

When it comes to tea, I prefer earl gray.
