Morning. An inspector has asked I fit a rodding access to new 110 waste pipe which runs from an upstairs bathroom.

I’ve purchased one of these (see below) and wonder the best place to attach.

Thanks.

Seems like a stupid request to fit on a home system. What is the actual risk of a blockage?

Just tell him you will fit one when you actually need to - the process is exactly the same - you cut in to the pipe!

Any access point must be fitted in a place where it can actually be used and rods used easily, not where it is easy to fit or looks good

I’m following a builder doing some snagging. The client wants it. Was going to fit it on top of the the horizontal run so it definitely won’t leak. Means you need a step ladder to access for rodding.

I fit these for access in soilstacks:

More for CCTV by the looks of it. I need rodding access.

You would normally incorporate a fitting like this as you build the stack...

Yes but the builder didn’t and I dont want to mess about with the already installed stack. Hence the retrofit.

I've had a similar issue. Council BC demanded it... tried to argue, but there was no way. They would not issue a compliance certificate without it, so builder fitted a boss connector at the bottom of the svp so its reachable w/out any ladders.
