Capital Punishment

Smoking gun evidence than execute them
"flagrante delicto" Latin. literal translation 'blazing offence' meaning "caught in the act."
Like a cop kneeling on a blackman's neck until he dies?
Or a special constable shooting a woman in the face as she drives away?
Or police shooting a Brazilian on a train because he looks like a terrorist?
etc

Or what about a woman who confesses to killing her controlling abusive husband?

Don’t care. Tell me, what would your punishment for a child murderer be?

This is where ellal quietly disappears into the ether…..
It's irrelevant It's already laid out in statute.
We know your prefered punishment - lynch mob mentality or vigilantism.

I would say so, I wouldn't be interested in mental health issues or depression. People have that but don't go to the extremes of killing their family, children of all things.
So do you support the shooting of soldiers for suffering from PTSD during WW1 and WW2?

So is it just the word "random" you didn't like?

If ellal had said you supported beatings and maimings you'd have accepted that?
As Ellal pointed out, if corporal punishment is legal it wouldn't be limited to state administered corporal punishment.

Another perspective in all this is that of the victims family.

There was a tv prog of families in the States that had family members who were murdered, with the perpetrator on death row and their time of execution nearing.

It was a very interesting and quite emotional watch. I think one of the families was keen to see the perpetrator executed, the other wasn't (possibly for religious reasons).

After both perpetrators were executed, the family that had wanted it to go ahead hadn't found any more peace, which they thought it (the execution) would bring.

Of course, that's not to say there wouldn't be families (perhaps the majority) that would want execution, however it was an interesting watch nevertheless.

I watched one where the family watched him in the electric chair, they were screaming at the sight of the execution as it took two shocks to administer and pronounce him dead. Must admit it didn't seem to give them any peace, but then if you had a child murdered could you realistically ever find any peace

Very true.

Highwayman said "Car theft!

Car theft is not an aggravated offence.
It only becomes an aggravated offence if / when other factors and offences come into play, e.g dangerous driving, damage, etc.
So car theft is not an aggravated offence, per se, until it becomes an aggravated offence, i.e. other factors or offences, then it' becomes a more serious offence.

Now that I was able to explain the law to you, I hope you understand it better.
No need to explain your mistakes to me, you learnt something new and I gave you the lesson. Your response was this " Theft of cars is not an aggravated offence." you have since been schooled turned which your reply to this " You said car theft, not car jacking nor aggravated theft." but if you read what my post said, it stated "Violent offences such as agravated burglary and theft of cars etc" I didn't realise that you learning something new was such a difficult thing for you, I suggest that you pay more attention in future.
