Hardware Shops

We have a small hardware store near us and got taken over by a nice family a year or two ago, but they now rarely have anything I want. They took it on, and changed little in the stock, until things were sold, and now the screws/bolts/tools have some fairly random selections. The consumables such as filler or sugar soap is poorly stocked, but the random non-hardware stuff is taking over. I recall a series on BBC many years ago about an expert helping out small retailers, and she covered a hardware store doing exactly this, and this were going downhill until she stepped in.

There is another hardware store about 15min walk from me that is much better, and ran by a bloke and his parents.

Today I went into Scotts, which is a much larger ironmongers aimed at the trade, but also serves public. Top place for tools, and obscure hardware.

Now sit down, concentrate and let me explain this to you.

Someone might say as a generalism that "everyone's got tattoos these days". Of course everyone hasn't really got tattoos these days and the person making this statement doesn't really mean that absolutely EVERYONE has a tattoo. They mean that these days so many have tattoos that it seems like tattoos are universal. It's a comparison to something that has gained a lot in popularity. Of course, conversely, statements like this can also be used the other way around to mean something has declined greatly in popularity, COMPARED to years/decades ago. This is what was being alluded to with the decline in British manufacturing.

Now this is the last I will say on the subject because your total lack of any comprehension and evident pedantic slowness is frankly quite boring. As are you.

Jeez! Don't it lose something when you have to explain in minute detail the subtleties of comprehension, humour, the meaning of life, etc, etc, etc to liberals!
