British man has passport revoked whilst on holiday, now he cant come home

He should have a right to appeal, but unfortunately he’s currently out of the country.

seems like a perfect storm of missing paperwork and sloppy check in processes.

Whatever fraud he committed on his passport shouldn’t result in him losing his existing status or rights.

Could have saved me a tenner too. I chipped in a tenner on behalf of Notchy as he was that upset, ashamed and infuriated at just being British!

It’ll be interesting to find out what happens to the money raised now he doesn’t need it. Do you think we'll ever find out? Me neither.

You are a top man (y)

It also cost me a tenner

My understanding is he now has legal representation

Yes this sort of thing does maje me ashamed to be British.
Not only is Home Office entitled to revoke in such circumstances, but they often deliberately do it when the person isn't in the country

Immigration rules means you are guilty until you can prove otherwise.

You gave money to help a foreigner get back home. I never thought I'd see the day!! :ROFLMAO:

Your a Good man.

I'd have given a tenner to keep him in Brussels
I may suggest to him that Devon is a fab place to live. Perhaps he'd like to move there with the friendly, welcoming people.

Lots of people get their passport revoked, because it comes to light that the information in the application was wrong and perhaps fraudulent. That doesn't mean they become stateless, it just means they need to reapply with the correct information and perhaps face any charges if Fraud can be proved. I suspect this will happen to this chap.

I'm glad he's able to return home, but at some point it would appear that he may have knowingly put info on his passport application that was incorrect. I suspect this will be looked into.

Thing is, it's a passport - he should not have been allowed to leave the country if his passport was considered defective. Very underhand to let him leave then tell him he cannot come back. But having dealt with the home office myself I know that some of the people working there are not exactly keen for foreigners to have British passports! But that's life I guess.

I'm glad too - leaving him on the streets was shocking.
Is the other bit of your post speculation about him knowingly put incorrect info on passport? Or has the story moved on?
