Replacing an SUV we've had since new..
I prefer the higher driving position and it's easier to get in and out of than a std.
Don't want or need it to be big, but it has to, well, go a bit. Current one's 0-60 is 10s, which isn't death, but 6-7 sec would be better. So, not too wallowy.
Something with adjustable ride height would be ideal but I don't think that's common. We keep cars ages so I suppose diesel is likely to be a snag so it's probably petrol or hybrid. A couple of years old is my usual - so that probably means petrol as there are few used hybrids.
Price not sensitive, 40ish would be fine.
Don't care about badges.
We don't do a lot of miles - retired. Her indoors' m5 has done under 2k in the last year...

The XC60 Is a very good option,

The Jag f pace is a classy option

Then there is the Lexus RX to check out, Toyota is one of the best at hybrids.

BMW x5

there is Merc but I have a personal vendetta against mercs for no reason I just don't rate them in terms of looks reliability and driveability

There is an awful lot of options, and not really any bas ones

Thanks. Wouldn't have looked at the Volvos but they're pretty good.
I peered carefully at an Ateca and thought it looked nasty. No logic perhaps, behind these things.
Jag's are tempting but the FPace is a bit big, not sure about the E Pace yet.

Perhaps boringly the B M X3 gets rated highly in most comparisons.
They look blah which is fine.
Interestingly there are more engine options. The confusingly named M40i goes a bit better, and there's a Competition petrol option, which goes quite a bit better.
Perhaps curiously there's a diesel option in there as well which appears to give much the same performance as the petrol option of the same capacity (3L).

Whither diesels? Gawd knows. Right now I simply couldn't make do with an all electric. Zapmap shows that. Hybrids aren't a clear money saver. There are very few used, of either.
The "Competition" X3 version would be a bit more fun and maybe 10k more. I'm old enough or confused enough to not really care about 10k. Looks like something like this, then.

Alfa Stelvio??? :)
Reminds me of low calorie sugar.
Must admit the 2.9L sounds "perky" with 0-62 at 3.8s.

Even the 2,0's 6.1s is fair. Obvs the words reliability and depreciation loom, but reviews predict better than prejudice.

Sitting position is important in an SUV, and nobody quotes it. The AR looks lowish.

Are reliability and running costs of any interest to you?
