I would suggest it's a blocked DHW heat exchanger... Get it flushed or best bet is a replacement.

Diverter valve

Drain; refill and bleed off whilst your system is filling... You should only need to drain through your hot tap again; just so you can break the air trap and allow the ch to fill again.

Get the system properly powerflushed and treat yourself to a new higher specification pump as ChrisR said. You will need to get the 10mm capped off and replaced when flushing as I've not seen or heard of anyone brave enough to start powerflushing plastic pipework! You seem to be throwing good...

Is the button caught in the cover stopping it coming all the way over; sometimes easier to remove the cover on the gas valve - Just remember though; this will be LIVE!
