2.5 T&E with 1mm CPC

Just wanted everyone elses comments on this type of cable, Its my understanding that if we come across it then it should be removed !. I understand that it was used for a very short period during the 80's and i have just found some on a job where they have asked me to install a new consumer unit. On the Disq part p Training course i recently completed they said that this cable should be removed, but any comments would be helpful.

they say a lot of things. unless its faulty, leave it. there are houses with worse wiring around.

unless its dangerous i would just leave it. if theyve done summt stupid like wired the place in 1mm T&E for the ring mains, change it otherwise leave it

Thanks Andy the installation is safe its a ring final circuit wired in that cable i took a Zs measurement and it was 0.32 on a PME system so well within the allowances , but my concern is with my work not complying with 7671 ! ie new consumer unit with possible unacceptible cable

As far as I understand it, its ok if protected by cartridge fuse, or mcb, but not if by re-wireable fuse

It's the fault current that is the worry.

If you do the adeabetic, and it's with in, then no problem (i suppose), although NIC do say to renew ASAP.

Afaik, I didn't think you can get a result from the adiabatic equation as small as 1mm² for a 30A BS3036 with t&e.

You do not hat the power to insist on the customer renewing a cable which is performing to the regulation standards.

Considering Part P Approved, I would say that he should be answering the questions not asking them.
