Ffs! We haven't left yet and they've already stopped JD's medical supplies. Anyone up for a whip round while we can still afford it.

"Sir James Dyson tells us that he could make a machine just as effective as the 2,000 to 3,000 watt models being “banned”, using only 700 watts."

So why didn't he do it ?. Come on John, do some research and inform us why there isn't ( yet ) this highly efficient 700 watt machine.

JohnD, debating with you is like conversing with a churlish, slow-witted four year old.

Let's see your research proving your fantasy that there are no low-wattage machines as effective as the old high wattage machines (you'll fail).

so just to recap, for reasons of his own, Bernard chose to throw in an old, false, long discredited story, published and circulated for the amusement of anti-Europeans who will swallow any lie.

Straight cucumbers do not taste any better than the masses of bent ones that we are not allow to buy and are destroyed.

And the anti-Europeans are enjoying raking over these myths. Which is what they're for.

You'll be telling me the one about 350 and the NHS next.

There are low wattage machines that achieve efficiencies close to that of machines 4 times the wattage. ( how do you measure efficiency ) but they all have a draw back when sold to the domestic market.

Just to help your befudled loser's mind, read this

Not discredited. It happened. It was the EU that was discredited for introducing the legislation. There are EU documents that are directly related to the technical requirements of straightness of cucumbers and bananas and reams of document about the limits for other fruit and vegetables. Marketing some these products required equipment to sort acceptable from non acceptable.

I had already looked at the regulation. It does not say what you said. The story was a fake from the day it was printed, and has been rebutted numerous times. It is just circulated by anti-Europeans as a false rumour, like all the others I mentioned. Some people are stupid enough to think it is true.

Did you know that all Norfolk women have webbed feet, and all Welsh men shag sheep? And the word "gullible" is not in the OED? And all foreigners live on benefits in ten-bedroom houses while simultaneously stealing our jobs and living on a pound a day, twenty of them to a shed?
