I need a 5amp fuse, went to Focus DIY yesterday, they don't have the size I am after, they sell - the small 18.5mm x 5mm fuse and the standard 25mm x 6mm - I need a 22mm x 6mm.

Any help? It's for a consumer unit.

Ooops, while writing this I have found a company online that sells them.

try an electrical wholesaler if there is 1 near you. or maybe maplins

Buy a Wylex Plug-In B6 MCB Breaker to slip in place of it - it will save a lot of hassle in the long run!

That will almost certainly create more hassle, what with the propensity for MCB to trip when lamps fail.

hughesey - why did the fuse blow?

Focus DIY is the worst of all the sheds - i will not shop there, its B&Q every time for me - cheaper and theres less women pushing prams there.

Go to CEF it`s alwaysbetter to get ripped off by experts

managed to find a small electrical distrubuter close to home, so tried my luck there, £1 each though - rob dogging b******* Still, its sorted so i am not bothered now. Unless it keeps blowing for some weird reason!

Not sure why it blew, the Mrs pulled the pull-cord light in the bathroom and it went "POP" no lights working then thru out the house besides the kitchen all the plug sockets worke fine, just lights out everywhere!!

Back to normal now tho' like I said, so if owt blows I will be ere asking for advice!!!

PS... Focus are just the closest place to me, thought they'd still stock basically everything "DIY" in the 1st place, not going back there again, plus this weird woman with 1 weird eye works behind one of the counters, she looks like 1 eye'd willy off Goonies.

lightbulbs blowing tend to take a surge of current which can take out protective devices. Its most commonly a problem with B6 breakers but higher rated breakers and fuses also get taken out by them from time to time.

WTF, Is this a serious question? If it is then why has nobody told the geezer bout the issues with upstairs and downstairs lights tripping on one fault?

An enormous percentage of the UK housing stock has all the lighting on one circuit. Have you considered that this is the case here? (Especially as the original question asks for the source of a fuse, singular.)

And, hughesey, a quid a pop is a lot les than B & Q charge.

ooooohhh, sorry guys, totally mis-read the question after a bottle or several of chardonnay. Thought something all-together different was being asked. Many apologies.
But I do have to say that the woman with the weird eye is my sister. We all have a weird eye in my family. We share it alternate Sundays.

In fact the more I read my original post, I'm not even sure what I was trying to say myself. Will give up wine and stick to brandy. :) :?
