A vaccine

How and why it mutated we may never know - what we do know is - those wet markets and Chinese demand for those animals are a perfect incubator for these types of viruses.

It's happened more than once for us to now agree with some certainty that these practices need to stop and not continue illegally in the future.

Which I have also posted before.

Nor does it rule out that the American soldiers brought it to China from the USA. In fact we could spend all evening not ruling out theories and then post them on twitter for gullible Americans (and some daft Brits) to get their teeth into.

We could finish the evening with a cigar and a chat about how the twin towers were brought down by the CIA, how Charlie had Di bumped off and the flatness of the Earth.

Don't forget to bring your banjo Brig.(y)

Can't, that's non - essential travel (y)

As an aside, is Beau closed? Given that fairways bring me out in hives, any half - decent golfer will pretty much be guaranteed to be "social distancing" from me:mrgreen:

Hmm. Either they're being economical with the truth. Again.

Or that vodka is stronger than I thought.

Did it sneeze on the human? Cough? Bleed? Bite the human? Or did the human get it by eating an intermediate?

A similar one was reckoned to be caused by an animal eating bat poo. There are several ways it can happen - they may just mutate as one did but went harmless.

The interesting aspect is can't get rid of it so must have a vaccine. How has China eradicated it? The other way is to get to a point when it doesn't infect anyone. That is done by lock downs, controls and testing. If the infection rate is under one it will always run out - eventually so needs to be significantly less than one. Testing reduces it further as does more controls such as tracking.

To be honest I wonder which option has the least economic effect. Loosen lock down can go several ways. Having to put them back on / hoping to get it right next time round or lower continuos infections and death rates or a repeat of what we are currently doing.

The UK will be a strange place if it finishes up being one of the few western countries that still has it kicking around. As will some others if the same happens there. This seems to be the general direction of a number of them. For how long - pass.

Seeing as animals (cats, dogs, even a NYC zoo tiger) have reportedly tested positive for CV, the chances of it "burning out" seem sli , even if lockdown is brutal and prolonged.

depends if the tigers (or more likely domestic cats) infect people and other cats by coughing on them.

It may be that they don't.

The tiger didn't seem ill.

Apart from the ones that don't.

MERS and Ebola being big names from the last decade.

The evidence available to date suggests that the viruses have been present in bats for some time and had spread to camels by the mid 1990s. The viruses appear to have spread from camels to humans in the early 2010s.

The MERs virus could have been transferred to humans by Camel urine, I read that drinking Camel urine is regarded as cure for all sorts ailments by some people in the middle East.
