Originally the Spanish flu was supposed to have been brought to Europe by American troops during the WW1 .
There now seems to be a bit of historical revisionism going on, no doubt due to the arrivel of Cov19.
References to American troops as being the definitive answer to the origin of Spanish flu in Europe appear to have been removed from a number of sources, Wikipedia entries have now been edited to include theories that Spanish flu may have originated in China.
