Hi all....

I have a double socket on a wall in an alcove. Is it allowed to drill through the wall and fit another socket directly behind the existing socket on the other side of the wall, and connecting with short length's of cable.

Many thanks to all who look.

As long as the socket is on the ring, not a spur, or a radial.

Just tap off the existing socket to the new one if its a radial

Sorry!

Yes, I meant as long as the socket is on the ring (not a spur) you can, or if it is on a radial you can too.

It doesn't necessarily have to come from the end of a line socket on a radial.

And providing it's not got a spur coming off it already.

Generally, two conductors of each colour in original socket and you're OK to do it, three of each colour and it's already got a spur off it so you'd need to extend the ring to incorporate your new socket rather than creating a spur for the new socket.

Regards

Fred.

Do not assume this means it is a socket on a ring. It may be a spur that has been spurred off already. You need to test this, safely, to find out. If you dont know how to do this, get someone who does know.
