I think you need to read the details.

Their defence of a citizens arrest was based on their prosecutions reading of the law which the Judge clarified.

They were not present at the time of the incident - so they could not affect a citizens arrest and the crime if one was being committed was a misdemeanor so they couldn't effect the second part which is chasing someone who has committed a felony.

The fact they had multiple times to call the Police but decided to become vigilantes and on top organised between themselves their conduct- they will be going down.

Don't confuse the Rittenhouse trial with this.

Even in the US this trial is getting less coverage because everyone knows which way this will end. Rittenhouse case was not comparable.

On balance, I will never agree with vigilantism, which is what this appears to be, regardless of all the legal speak the incident is now wrapped in.

If all the following is true, these 'protectors of the streets' need the proverbial book thrown at them, whether they genuinely thought the victim was a criminal or not.


The elder Mr McMichael, a neighbourhood resident, told police he believed Mr Arbery resembled the suspect in a series of local break-ins. Police have said no reports were filed regarding these alleged break-ins.

The McMichaels armed themselves with a pistol and a shotgun and pursued Mr Arbery in a pickup truck through the neighbourhood.

According to the elder Mr McMichael, he and his son had said "stop, stop, we want to talk to you".

He said Mr Arbery then attacked his son. Lawyers for Mr Arbery's family have said the 25-year-old was unarmed.

All I suggest, Andy, is that you keep away from, oh, Preston, Blackburn, Colne, Bradford, Dewsbury, Oldham, Rochdale, etc. You wouldn't like them...

I know all those places well. Colne doesn't belong in that list as it's a great little town, but the rest are, sadly, under foreign occupation and as far as I can see will never be their old selves again. Bradford is a particularly sad case, when you compare its great history to what it is now.

The point is maybe that populations change, for example the bottom of Cheetham Hill in Manchester was once one of the centres of the "schmutter trade" in the city. These days the original members of that trade are long gone and the Eruv now covers parts of Prestwich, Crumpsall and Higher Broughton further up the hill. More recently Rochdale and Todmorden (to name two towns I know) had quite vibrant Ukranian associations (mainly Galician Ukranians from pre-war Poland). Would you view them in the same way?

I've bought a couple of cars from Bradford over the years, these were quite "specialist" cars and tbh never had an issue and the people were really friendly, not just because I was buying a car from them.

In fact I've had a lot of that experience over the years, I worked in becton for a short while and the Pakistani guys I worked with took me to the local community, for a proper homemade curry, lovely people and lovely food, much better than the usual Asian restaurant offers.

Another case I worked in Iceland (food shop) with an Indian guy was our security guard, was over here for university, went out for drinks with him a few times and he brought gifts back from India with him, another cracking bloke.
