Alternative meats

Bit OT but I enjoy watching the catch & cook vids on YT.

Most 'extreme' thing I've had was snails which hopefully count in the spirit of the thread :)

I'm sure that for a few years in the mid 1990s, some of the big supermarkets sold exotic meats, like Crocodile, Ostrich, Kangaroo and maybe also Zebra. And then suddenly they stopped - before I got round to trying them :(. More recently I've had Ostrich a few times from Aldi and that was yummy.

Supermarkets were keen on Zebra because it came with it's own barcode.

Croc, zebra, kudu, impala, all in southern Africa, alpaca in Peru, had goat curry in Keswick market last month

Some things on there have jogged my memory. I’ve also had frogs, snails and pigs trotters. Oh, and I’ve also tried eating andouillette when I was in France once. I wouldn’t recommend it!
Yeah, lamb's foreskin sausage, IIRC!

Edit. It would appear not, unless there are variations of the sausage with the same name.

Go to China and if it walks / crawls /flys / swims / moves they will eat it

Another one for trying different meats in S Africa. Had ostrich in Wilderness on the Garden Route - bit steak like but far less fat. Also kudu in Kruger Park. Being SA, I think these were the veggie options. :giggle:

Also, glad to hear there's no rabbit in bunny chow.

Have had most of what has been mentioned

And I could throw into the mix...

Goanna
Seal meat
Whale meat
Puffin
Beef/Lamb cheeks

But have to say a particular favourite is Foal meat.

Wow.
No 'finger quotes'. No Brexit bitterness. No exclamation mark!
You had a bump on the head or something?
