Glad you've still got your sense of humour secure! I hope they sort it out for you. 6 weeks seems ridiculous when time is of the essence. There's a distinct lack of joined up thinking sometimes between departments. Best of luck with it all.

Problem there is that they won't give me an appointment to further investigations for another 6 weeks.

You need to get your firm to join the ECA's private medical scheme. It's one of the cheapest around for both employers and employees. I know private medical treatment is not everyones cup of tea but that 6 week wait would be more like 1-2 days
