Does any of that apply to you personally?
No, it’s the other way round. You can use your unlimited data for a continuous month or so outside of the U.K. To get another period, you must use the phone in the UK. This is more than enough for most holidaymakers and is to stop expats or long stayers abusing it.

This sort of thing is in operation with so-called "unlimited" data and call packages; they're often not "unlimited".
yes I used to import timber from Germany and am helping out another business who wants to do the same -its proving impossible at the moment.
And I had planned on an extended holiday in France with my dog....proving difficult at the moment as pet passport scheme is no longer in operation and weve defaulted to a far more expensive system that costs a lot.
Please God, let it be a place without wifi.
I think we're both a bit wrong. With Three anyway, this is the T&C's:
Applicable Limits and Restrictions:
- If you are a pay monthly customer, you can use your monthly allowance as if you were in the UK, subject to the below usage restrictions.
- If you are a Pay As You Go customer, depending on your plan, you may have certain allowances included when you top-up. You can use these as part of Feel At Home. You can also buy Add-ons which give you allowances which can be used as part of Feel At Home. Special roaming rates for calls and texts back to the UK and data use will apply. The limit for Pay As You Go customers will be limited to your available credit.
- Inclusive minutes and texts are for standard UK mobiles and UK landlines beginning 01, 02, 03. Personal Numbers (070), premium rate numbers beginning 09 and directory services numbers beginning118 shall be blocked in the selected destinations.
- In any case, in the event the customer’s plan includes all-you-can-eat data and/or an add-on with additional data, voice or SMS the following limits per month shall apply:
- Data: 12GB
- SMS: 5,000
- Voice 3,000 minutes
- Three may contact the customer if the above limits are exceeded in any given month.
- Three reserves the right to suspend the international roaming when in a selected destination if the customer’s use exceeds any of the above limits for two (2) months within a twelve (12) month period. The service will be reinstated once the customer returns to the UK.
- This offer is intended to be used by UK residents travelling abroad, and Three reserves the right to suspend the service in the event the UK allowance is used exclusively abroad for two (2) months within a twelve (12) month period.
That’s a lot of texts, data and calls for around six quid!
What’s so special about German timber and exactly how much is the pet passport going to cost you over and above what it used to cost? Is it that much a deal breaker on an 'extended' holiday? Who is going to lose out on your friend not buying German timber or you not staying abroad for an extended length of time? Certainly not the UK - he'll have to buy British timber and you’ll have to holiday in the UK if you want to take your dog.
I found it a little strange that these pet passports were for dogs, cats and ferrets. I've known a few people with ferrets, never heard of anyone taking them on holiday.
