Another cladding fire?

Where there any illegals, benefit scroungers, unlawful sublettings etc in this block?

Will the students be put up in 5* hotels for two years, with a credit card whilst they continually refuse suitable alternative accomodation?

Can anyone just rock up there and claim to be affected and jump on the gravy train?

Meanwhile it looks like fires happen and the alarm and escape procedure worked.

Because the politicans responsible for Building Regulations need to find some way of distracting the public from their failure to prevent buildings being wrapped in flammable materials.

These fatal fires have been known about for at least ten years.

"Bonfire of Regulations" said Prime Minister Cameron.

Nine months after the fire.

Out of the 209 households that required new properties in the wake of the fire, 185 have accepted the offer of a temporary or permanent home and 126 have moved in, according to the latest council figures.

This leaves 24 families or individuals who are still in hotels.

So the fault of the cladding was the responsibility of the renters?

You live in a strange world.

It's called sub letting, some land lords frown upon this.

If these people were breaking their contracts and subletting they would not be provided with alternative accomodation.

No, you can have more than one household within a dwelling, a household can be a single person or a group.

So they only need to provide 129 flats then ?

Not very bright are you. They need to provide the same space as before - so if you had a two bed flat and were offered a one bed would that be equitable?

They should have the same they were living in as a household, if they came from a 1 bedroom flat, you get offered a 1 bedroom flat, if you came from a 2 bedroom flat, you get offered a 2 bedroom flat, that would be equitable, no houses, no 3 bedroom places, like for like. There was 129 flats (I read) in Grenfell, so they don't need any more than that number.

So what do you do when the council says we don't have a two bed flat to replace your two bed flat but can offer two, one beds flats instead?

Run off to the Daily Mail and scream blue murder how these lot are milking the system?

What are they in now ? If they are offered a 2 bed flat they should take it.They keep going on about building more and more "homes" (not houses), the council's and government aren't building them, it's private companies, they will build a large development, with a few token affordable or social homes. The "affordable" homes are then bought, and let out at rents applicable to that area, so they are then no longer affordable. The social housing (not always houses) are too small for families, but unless you take what you are offered, you may wait ages for anything, but surely a 1 bed flat is better than a hotel room.

Well a flat can be considered a home, and probably cheaper to build a 2 bed flat than a three bed house.

The Government stopped building social housing - it was Tory policy. Cut the funding and what did you expect.
