Are these 2-way Wago wire leaver connectors suitable for connecting mains lighting cable to a driver and then the driver DC output to LED strips in a series circuit? Wire is a standard lighting wire so 1.5m2 i think. They connectors are 32A connectors so probably overkill. If so what is a more suitable good quality alternative? TIA.

Yeah, they are fine as long as they are in a suitable enclosure and are accessible for inspection.

If they are not accessible for inspection, the enclosure and terminals must be approved in combination as a "maintinance free junction box".

Is a cavity at back of shelf considered a suitable enclosure? And if the shelf can slide off and on brackets for inspection, does that count as accesable?

Any connecters even the Dc output should really be in an enclosure.
It's not just to contain the connecters but also to restraint the cable from pulling, moreso if the cables not clipped.

Even something cheap like a choc box is enough, if as you say, you can slide shelf off for access.

Wago do a cheap wago box which does the above and comes supplied with the connecters in it.

.
If that shelf was fixed then you would need a dearer maintenance free box.
Something like a hagar j804 is complete with terminals inside.
I believe wago connecters are only maintenance free when used in conjunction with wago brand or wago compatible boxes.

Bear in mind that this needs 1 connecter per wire if using the 2 or 3 way ones, I have seen some try to put all 3 wires into them before.
Any of those connectors on that page will do, although I doubt you need a 50 or 100 pack.
Wicks do a far smaller pack.

Both sell junction boxes to put them into as advised above.

I saw post's #1&2 then ignored the rest of the thread as it was being attended to.

A neighbour knocked on the door last night while I was out until late, Waking at 10am I find the note.

Their decorator removed a wall light and trying to refit it "Blew out the whole house", at that they 'made it safe' by terminating all 3 wires into Wago's to leave it for me to sort.

Seeing what had been used and todays posts here I thought time to add a comment.

All 3 wires had been inserted into Wagos but the power could not be restored... the decorator didn't understand why.
Here are the Wagos I removed.

They made it safe alright. If the power can’t be turned on the circuit is perfectly safe. Just not particularly useful
