Budget

No, the other businesses in our sector are struggling too and we're all scrapping over what business there is available, driving down prices to unsustainable levels.

Demand has been suppressed by government actions and prices have been raised by government actions. Put the two together and you crash the economy.

Using your example, people buy fewer cars, car manufacturers lay off staff, car manufacturer suppliers lay off staff, consumer confidence goes down, even less cars get sold, manufacturers lay off more staff etc etc and the doom loop continues as the effect spreads out into retail, house building and all the other areas of the economy.
But people still need, and the false economy of delayed servicing and repairs often means the purchase of a new car

Business goes on if it's profitable. If it's not, then move on.

funny how people on here are complaining about the two child cap

those same people have been moaning about high immigration and have been saying we should increase UK growth rate...............but apparently they dont want to pay for it

Notch7 remind us who the government is now? Go on you know the one who has just set the budget?
Labour ended 2 child cap because of Reform pressure

oh by the way:

8 million on NHS waiting lists..................did they disappear when labour won power?

prisons in chaos.............were they suddenly ok when Labour won power?

debt to GDP now 100%.............do think the massive cost of borrowing disappeared when Labour took over?

massive damage to UK economy caused by Brexit..............do you think those damaging trade barriers suddenly disappeared when Labour took over?

public sector overdue pay rises...............do you think Labour couldve got away with kicking the can down the road for 5 years?

But the need gets paused, and during that pause that's when businesses struggle.

This government can't see that, so is adding fuel to the fire by loading costs onto employers at the worst time. ie the employers NI and minimum wage increases.

Business is always cyclical, but every time a high cost to start up business (like a manufacturer) shuts down, its rare that a new entrant starts up when the economy improves again, particularly in the SME world. That's why we've become so service based and have allowed manufacturing to whither on the vine.

Bless Notch7 you do wear that badge don't you. Tax more spend more **** the economy because Racheal from Accounts does not get it.

Some do, some don't.

As before, if the use of an employee makes profit, they will be employed, regardless of the cost. Simple example there is additional christmas staff in shops.

The country made a specific move to services and away from manufacturing a long while back. It's not a recent labour thing.

Well, whatever anyone says, this budget is naff. We need a MASSIVE change in government. We do! Its very obvious.

We need a 'Robin Hood' PM with his merry men. One who really does care about those who are suffering because of the low wages, the high taxes, high cost of living..........

This country is being sucked down a big old drain.....its getting weaker and weaker too.....

Spot on mate, we really do need a big change.

Was energy mentioned at all? Comes to something when you pay more in gas and electricity than mortgage......

Its always the 'Ordinary people' who suffer......

We need to change that!!

Well she dumped the 2 child benefit caper

Fair enough

About a year ago they suspended several of there MPs for voting against the 2 child cap

:giggle: Yes exactly

I have never been in favour of the practice of punishing children for the crime of being born to parents who already have two children.
