I am watching the World Cup on BBC and there has been a continous buzzing all the way through! The Africans or other fans sound like they are blowing a horn continously.

Not watching any other games if I have to put up with that racket.

Can anyone else hear what I am hearing :?:

Watch it on TV and listen to the radio.

Just as bad on Radio, reckon they got a load of jocks over to practice the bagpipes. :)

It's a trumpet thing called a vuvuleza or somesuch.....gets on yer t*ts !!!

the SA crowds use a big plastic trumpet thing. Won't stop blowing it. Worse than those whistles or foghorns.

bah, too slow.

Seems the worst is yet to come according to this wiki

During the last quarter of a match, supporters blow vuvuzelas frantically in an attempt to "kill off" their opponents

:(

I used to drink ale from one of these, was great, why would anyone want to blow into it

because its what they do, all something to do with holding the tournament in a different country i think

As one South African said on TV yesterday, it's their twelfth man - it gives them their so called 'edge' over their opponents. It appeared to have worked today against Mexico.

perhaps it's meant to make football appear to be exciting or summat...
