catering trailer

Hi all I am trying to refurb a catering trailer which has no electrics Im a bit of a novice in this area any good tips on which circuits to use etc also I need to have 12 sockets for my items I was thinking of using generater but Im unsure would a 7.8 kva be strong enough to power 12 sockets or not ??

If you're running everything off the electric, then this ought to do:

However, I suggest you keep as little as possible on the electric, and use gas appliances. Do you know about earthing such an installation and RCD protecting it? What's your maximum demand? What are the ratings of the appliances you intend to use?

FYI, 7.8kva would be sufficient for about 32 amps.

What are you plugging into these 12 sockets. Normal generators are electrically separate hence a different set of rules apply. RCDs in theory with an electrical separate supply are a waste of time. Double poled MCBs and equipotential bonding are imo the way forwards.

imho once you get up to a vheircle sized system you are better tieing together generator neutral and earth and treating it like a TN-S supply but there are pros and cons to both approaches.

as to power requirements you just have to add up the power demand of the equipment you plan to use and then spec out the generator and wiring to cope.
