Who defected from the Conservative party to Labour

last year he reportedly described his new party as a
A bunch of ***ts for opposing cuts to universal credit whilst telling parliament that the modern Labour Party is more concerned with stopping the deportation of foreign criminals than keeping our streets safe

:)

In the last parliament he co sponsored and voted for a bill mandating by elections for MPs who change party affiliation

he has probably forgotten ?

He more recently called Owen Paterson a cee you next tuesday

Hmmm perhaps self interest so as to maintain his MPs salary having realised he almost certain to lose his seat at the next election

a sort of keep yer snout in the trough defection :ROFLMAO:

the local Labour Party will welcome him with open arms

Maybe he'll cross back again when the time is right.
Personally I'd prefer a by-election.

He’s the one who wouldn’t vote for free school meals right?

His constituency local Labour party do not want him to represent them at the next election so I can't see him lasting long.

I think a by-election would be far more damaging to the Tories than the simple crossing the floor.
So maybe it was a decision based on several factors: his own survival, less damage to the Tories, even uniting the rest of the Tories.

Apart from insulting Labour on his twitter account Wakeford also insulted Angela Rayner. On Peston or Newsnight during the week Angela Rayner was asked how she felt about the insults. She laughed and said she'd seen worse written about her on her family whatsapp page.
She's definitely got a sense of humour.

Angela Rayner as leader of opposition would be fun

I was talking to someone at Christmas who'd recently met her and he said he came away from it quite liking her, particularly her sense of humour.

Don't think she'll ever be leader though, Andy Burnham is their only viable option imo.

I think Rayner is a bit one dimensional, She spends her time ranting about how awful the Tories are - it’s that old fashioned Union, hate the boss thing. If she became more sophisticated, she could be a great politician.

Andy Burnham would bring the support of the red wall, he would be quite a threat to the Conservatives….and he is an experienced politician. If he had been leader instead of Corbyn, things might have been different. Corbyn was a gift to the Tory party an absolute gift.
