Why don't we just import these Chinese models at a fraction of the cost

My B.I.L bought a cheap Chinese Honda knock of bike a few years ago. The corrosion that started not long after he got it would have wrecked it in no time if it wasn't for the fact it gave up the ghost in less than 6 months.

knock off cycles were all the rage a few years ago - you could get a 10k chinese version of a top end bike for about 1.5k. problem was they fell apart as the carbon wasn’t wrapped like the branded bike and wouldn’t take the stress. Not what you want doing 40mph down a hill. Still you can buy knew teeth with the money you saved.
