I don't want to put a spanner in the works, but 2nd June 1953 plus 70 years makes it 2nd June 2023. Wasn't the Coronation on the 2nd June 1953 or are Royal years calculated differently?

Yes, but not from the accession.
The moment George VI stopped breathing she became Queen. The Coronation was the ceremony to make it official in the eyes of God and the nation.

"THE KING IS DEAD - LONG LIVE THE QUEEN."

But it would have been rubbish having street parties etc in Feb so the celebrity dates were fixed around the BH weekend to make it more easy for everyone to join in and hopefully enjoy it in good weather. British compromise!!!

official in the eyes of God
Lol. The ‘royal’ abomination that flies in the face of most if not all of what the bible teaches.
They’ve done nothing in 70 years except line their own pockets at any cost.

Prince Charles will make a truly boring King.

Id prefer Harry, much more of a laugh….mind you he has gone all serious these days

A monarch is not there to entertain you; nor, for that matter, is a politician. The sooner people can depart from this mystifying expectation that people in the public eye should somehow be entertaining the better off this country can be.

The whole Feb/June thing isn't new.
Edward VII was born in November and wanted a summer celebration
The queen celebrated the official Birthday on the same day has her father, and moved it a few years later.

If only we could have someone like Mr Putin and his friends then we could all be truly happy

is it not a celebration off the beginning off the era as after all we are in the 21st century ??

So, "that crowd", as you call them, are as free as we are to choose how, when and how many times we celebrate our birth. Who cares, anyway?
