"others tell me" means its a story you are telling now it may be a genuine belief but without actual facts all you have is an opinion that can be between 100% correct down to 0% accurate as it may be some illusions to all illusions no one knows without all the facts
;)
There are professional beggars, and its possible to spot them. I haven't given money to anyone on the street for years because it goes on drink or drugs. If i do help its with a sandwich or cup of soup, after asking them. I wouldnt judge those who do give money, its a human instinct to help.

Very few people give a damn about our veterans. I have a customer who served in 2 gulf wars. He is almost blind with limited hearing and has severe ptsd. While others are enjoying their very loud fireworks he is cured up in fear while his wife tries to calm him. There was a forces eye hospital somewhere near you that he used to attend. The tories put a stop to that.
Its terribly wrong

Severe Ptsd is frightening for the person and for relatives -people with Ptsd can be violent to others when triggered and they are very often suicidal.........its a key reason for marriage breakups, wives become too frightened esp when there are children around.

soldiers with Ptsd should get expert help, not joni the back of the NHS queue

of all the people who should get help, at the top of the list must be people who suffered as a direct result of following orders under the British military

I know people who sign up know the risk they are taking, but the way I see it is: if they are prepared to fight for the defence of our country then as part of a basic social contract if they get injured they should be supported

If we can give £3b to Ukraine a year, cant we provide a few million to support veterans

How is it that you can post something like this..
I’m not making a political point here, but I really wish British veterans got the support they deserve

Some of these veterans with PTSD suffer for years before getting treatment.

I had a customer who was a veteran in 1st Gulf war, at the start of the 2nd Gulf war, he went to work as normal, parked by woods and hung himself…..the wife rang me the following day and told me. That was a difficult conversation.
and then go back to being a silly tw@t again..
Conservatives were in charge for 14 years

Why didn’t they do anything

Interesting how people like Filly abd Nwgs2 don’t give a flying fork about veterans until they can use it as an argument against helping people with brown skin.

Filly doesn’t like Muslims

It's like a ss nazi tea and cake get together

This board has quite a confrontational dynamic. And some very strong opinions. Lots of feuds. But very little actual discussion. Hope you stay. You seem sensible.

Its not a binary choice, this guy did not end up like this because afgan refugees got driving lessons.
One thing I agree with is the fact things like homelessness is a multi-faceted issue.

I said in another thread about a tv prog I watched a few years back re homeless people. I think it was three people given nice flats to live in, clean, safe etc. Two of them ended up back on the streets I think within weeks. One said it was due to being located too far away from her friends (who were living homeless in another town) and I think the other said they couldn't cope with living in the flat i.e. they had become too accustomed to street living.

All Internet forums these days seem to have shifted to the right and beyond

I am not interested in debating with reform voters or those beyond even that level

they live amongst us

some even think Trump will help ordinary American citizens
I am amazed that so many people in this country are hugging the likes of farage and trump

I saw micheal heseltine on the TV this morning who was a moderate conservative in his day and very sensible about the dangers of the far right

If the country would only vote in sensible , moderate labour , liberal and conservative MPs .........and call it the " moderate party " .....we wouldn't have to worry about all the guff talked by the extremists
