It does matter that more white people are homeless than from other ethnic groups, but homelessness itself is the issue when considering immediate support and assistance. A few quid from passers by is only going towards the next hit or can of special brew.

Wrong, I often give to the homeless they aren't all smack heads and alcoholics.

Sometimes the donations are the difference between a night on the streets or staying in a b&b or hotel.

Tbh if these people choose to use my generosity to get wasted then so be it, I think I'd rather be off of my face and on another planet whilst sleeping in a doorway freezing cold and treated like a pariah.

I don't know the current schemes, but there is usually training and education to help integrate leavers into the world outside.

Many get driving licences while serving, PSV,HGV etc.

Well at least some of those who served alongside UK forces made it to the UK and should be given help to get gainful employment...

Of course there are many equally worthy ones who can't get to the UK due to the veto the UK special forces have...

Because they are possibly witnesses to war crimes carried out by UK special forces and who would have been required to testify at the current ongoing inquiry into said war crimes!

And they are left to rot at the hands of the taliban, just as our government decides to leave UK veterans to rot on the streets!

I don't blame them either, or judge them. But while only a proportion of rough sleepers are drug or alcohol dependent, those begging are most likely to want money to feed an addiction, some will have lost their benefits and be looking to raise money to pay rent. In winter temporary shelters are set up by local voluntary groups with the help of Councils to provide a warm place to stay on the coldest nights. They are dry centres so anyone coming in is liable to be searched.
