I can only think, Aron, that people, rather than having an image of their loved ones being well looked after and dying peacefully, were forced to accept the reality that they were horrendously ill-treated.

And, rightly or wrongly, wrongly in this case, they hate her for that.
 
If you report organizational misconduct you are guaranteed to get a lot of attention and so one author called this 'narcissism moralized'.

One problem is that mistreatment is subjective, and even an inordinate number of people dying within a given time interval and at a specific place can be argued as to the cause.

The Balek Scales by Heinrich Böll is a similar story.
