dopey or what

i'm puzzled.
He comes out of a pub after having, '1 pint', scrapes a car and drives off. He is then 'requested' to stop by the police but fails to do so. He then proceeds to 'dump' the car and walk home. When he arrives home the police are waiting on the doorstep whereupon he takes a breatherliser and is deemed below the limit.

!/ Why did he not stop when requested to by the police?
2/ Why did the police not follow him and attempt to stop him?
3/ How far did he walk home?
4/ How long did it take him to walk home? (Long enough for the effects of the drink to wear off and bring him below the limit?)
5/ If the police were on foot why did they not call in and ask for him to be looked for by a patrolcar?

Just for the record, I am all for zero tolerance concerning drink/driving. 1 drink, no matter how small, then no driving. Period!

I had only a half pint tonight yet my wife, who had had a bath and was in her jams, insisted on getting dressed to pick up my son rather than having me drive. In retropect, she was right.
