I have to say (speaking as judge might) I have real trouble with part of your statement 'as I was fearful of their intent - I moved out as they moved out'. Have you already submitted your response then?

Apologise, grovel, say you panicked - a little - as you're such a quiet and meek driver, and a caring family man.
If you think the Tesla driver was goading you (to which you admit you reacted), bear in mind that the magistrate is likely to do the same. Goad you, looking for a bite.
If you think you'll bite at the magistrate, my advice would be to plead guilty by letter (if that's an option), rather than risk getting into an argument with them: which you WILL lose.

I would have thought they just want to know who was driving, and then they may make an offer like, 3 points & £100 or to go on a course to learn about lane discipline.

Say as little as possible and just confirm details .Chances are you buyer get a warning .
If your job is at stake get legal advice. There are many law firms that specialise in road traffic offences and will know the SP, It might cost a few hundred or even a few grand but that could repay itself many times over, as opposed to you dropping yourself in it through an innocent or naive admission.
No but it was a Tesla and they have multiple cameras. At this stage the letter is just asking to confirm my details before a potential prosecution. From the wording the local police force have not yet made a decision, but knowing what the cameras will have recorded it’s pretty obvious which way they’ll go.

You would have to have been acting pretty outrageously for them to take you to court and go for dangerous driving.
