got a letter today saying this tariff is coming to and end
i don't need to do anything as i will automatically be swopped to the standard tariff which they say is the lowest off all the major suppliers in my area
they just forget to mention that this tariff will mean around a 16% increase in my case

so if your on this tariff do your sums

This was highlighted recently. Another "stealth" tax.
I make sure I`m aware of these contract termination dates and have a look around. Then call them to say I`m off as your not the best. Always get a better deal.

they all seem to do it a year ago scottish power tried to do exactly the same to me when there contract ended then it was around 15% more so very similar

they should be forced by law to tell you as prominently as they claim the benefits on the same letter

British Gas did the same with their cheap online tariff a while ago. It always pays to check around to see who's the cheapest anyway. :)

i am a tart when it comes to moving i know my exact consumption for the year :D

just annoys me that they spout about how competitive there prices are and forget to tell you they are increasing my tariff by 16% as if they are doing me a favour

When moving supplier go through www.quidco.com or www.topcashback.com and you will also get £40-£90 cashback just for moving.

And when the minimum contract period ends, just move again for the cashback ... even if the new supplier's tariff is the same as the one you are on at the time
