Has it occured to you that he might be 'cutting you off' for your own safety rather than to annoy you?

Just put some vents in the cupboard quickly.

How about some of those round soffit vents in the base and top of the cupboard. :wink:

I assume you had a corgi reg installer in the first instance?

He is just making sure the appliance doesn't kill you or your family or any visitors to your house while you organize someone to come and rectify the problem. You got a bargain...you paid for a repair and potentially had your life saved.

I'm assuming you have a modern boiler with a round flue sticking out of the wall, or maybe a big squareish one. ???

In that case the air for the boiler is coming from outside.
Though you should have a terminal guard, and vents in the cupboard IF the Manufacturer's Instructions say so, these are not turn-off violations.

Unless there's something we don't know, your man is taking the p.

No guard is not a cutting off situation.

That leaves the air problem.

The Brittony 11T , does not require any purpose built ventilation unless installed in a compartment, whereas it requires High and low level ventilation to outside air or the room in which the compartment is located.

A free area of the opening must be;

air from a room 252 CM² high and low levels

air from outside 126 CM² high and low.

Normal practice would be for the engineer to offer to do the work first.

ONE WRONG = NOT UPTO CURRENT STANDARD.TWO WRONGS=AT RISK. TURN IT OFF.

At risk is not a turning off situation.

At risk is turn off, but not cap. ie gas cock. Bit tricky to advise as we don't know what catagory he has left it. I wouldn't class compartment vents and terminal guard as a multiple ncs AR, but engineer judgement.

this sounds like the engineer is being over zealous as previous poster have said the vents are for cooling not combustion, the flue guard is to protect the public from being burnt by the terminal[never seen a2t terminal burn someone if it has a fan the flue pipe is plastic] the b/f terminal never gets hot enough to cause burns.the main point here is 2 ncs equals id so the man was doing his job competently but he could of gone about in a better manner remove the top and bottom of the unit or cut vents in and put a guard on the terminal keeps everyone happy/safe hope this helps
