I have got a long length of flex in the garage that I want to attach to a light fitting making it a portable light.

The flex does not have an earth wire but the light fitting is mainly plastic.

Will this be ok to do this?
Thanks :D

Does the light fitting have an earth terminal or symbol like this?
The symbol will indicate that the fitting can be used without an earth connected, if there is an earth terminal that really explains it's self!

unlikely, those of a similar style that I have seen have a metal reflector inside the unit, which needs earthing.

That fitting isn't the most suitable fitting to use anyway.

Get a proper class 2 lead light that has a handle on it.

It's Class 1, so needs an earth!
