Fraudster sentenced to jail

Her husband has, afaik she has not yet been charged.

But the investigation into her is just wrapping up. They're doing it behind closed doors to avoid prejudicing criminal charges.

Baroness Mone, 52, and Mr Barrowman, 59, have denied wrongdoing. In June 2024, the NCA said an unnamed 46-year-old man from Barnet, north London, had been arrested as part of its investigation.
To date, no criminal charges have been brought and the Crown Prosecution Service has not been formally instructed by the NCA.

Husband not arrested or charged. Nobody seems to be claiming fraud,

Whoops, thanks for the correction.

You say that no one is claiming fraud, the NCA is though according to their lawyer. Then again they have lied to their lawyers in the past.

Well she is a witch...
A common misconception: Germany was the main theater for 'The Burning Times', as they've become known. They set more witches aflame than anyone. We were more civilised in the British Isles, where women suspected of witchcraft were given a democratic choice of being dunked in t'village pond: if she floats, she's a witch, so a-hanging we will go. If she doesn't, she drowns and to the Diville takes her sorrow.

The History Pixie has a three-part series on Monday nights looking into the phenomenon and highlighted the fate of Agnes Sampson in Edinburgh in 1590: A 'grace wyffe', she was accused and sentenced after an interrogation by King James VI, no less. She was actually burned but they first granted her the 'mercy' of strangulation.

All that they have done today is to make a Martyr out of her and because she stood as the anti corruption party, the far right will now win the day.
Highway Man says: the far right must be allowed to get away with criminality.

Corruption and bribery offences aren't Fraud.
Civil claims for contract performance aren't Fraud.
The VIP fast lane was a publicised process, even though we can look back and say it was open to abuse, it can't be corruption. using a process is not improper.

Obviously there is no time limit on a criminal investigation, but I find it strange that neither have been arrested and interviewed under caution.

Last time I looked at this I felt the contract performance was weak, because the government had a vague specification and the undue enrichment argument is an odd fit for these type of contracting parties.

unjust enrichment involve four questions:
(1) ‘The enrichment question’: has the defendant been enriched?
(2) ‘The at the expense of question’: was the enrichment at the claimant’s expense?
(3) ‘The unjust question’: was the enrichment at the claimant’s expense unjust?
(4) ‘The defences question’: does the defendant have a defence?

Good enough for boatyard boy.

Maybe Marine should have tried that.
So no evidence they have been arrested, charged, or sued. thought so.

No amount of wishing or protest from you will change the facts.

The NCA investigation into them both is in relation to allegations of conspiracy to defraud, fraud by false representation, and bribery, which they both categorically deny,” Williams-Thomas states
You may or may not be a lawyer, but that is from their lawyer.

Are you sure you haven't seen evidence in one of your fictional press releases?

You haven't seen any evidence, and are not responsible for the investigation.

But you'll agree she pocketed a vast amount of money, and tried to hide it through a network of offshore accounts, and falsely denied having anything to do with the company.

None of that is my "wishing."

The NCA submits there is a realistic possibility that criminal charges against one or more individuals will flow from the investigation.”

I wonder if that is the bloke who was arrested. But they are the ones asking for the hearing to be in private so as not to prejudice their chances of a criminal case.

Seems odd that neither has been arrested and interviewed under caution. All they need is reasonable suspicion of an offence.
