Is how the Lebanese law on rape has been described.

Lebanese law currently allows a rapist to be exonerated if he marries his victim

Alia Awada from the non-governmental org' Abaad said "every single day a woman may be raped
and forced to marry her rapist"

A proposal to scrap Article 522 of the penal code , which deals with rape , assault, kidnapping, and forced marriage was introduced last year & approved by a parliamentary committee.

MPs get to vote on it in May

wonder how the vote will go :);)

Is Lebanon a mainly muslim country by any chance?

England, however, is nominally a Christian country.

Look up "wife rape 1991" to see when England left the stone age.

I am not sure tbh there is a large Christian population in the lebanon.

who could possibly be against amending such a law ;):)

My sister was there for 2 years (ish) in the 80's

I don't know. I suppose you could ask your sister's opinion, since you mention her. Was she in the UK prior to or including 1991?

Happens elsewhere too, I think in India.
I was very pleased about the women trying to change the law in Lebanon. Hopefully the whole world will catch up and outlaw it completely.

Lebanon is mainly Muslim & Christian and then a few others.

Careful. Your alter ego will be along soon to remind you about the "two wrongs don't make a right" rule. :)

You are gravely mistaken in suggesting that I approve of rape.

However it is certainly foolish to claim that bad laws on rape are "stone age"

She is not a UK citazen.

Strangely enough my sister has never mentioned wife rape to me or mentioned any thing about the UK wife rape law . You seem to be the expert on the subject. So speak up

Not good. Whereas we in the other extreme have put woman on a pedalstal and so created another insurmountable.

Not the bad laws.
Just the ones in muslim countries.

muslims like to style themselves on their beloved prophet mohammed who was a child rapist himself.

I did not ?

Minister for Womans affairs Jean Oghassabian described the law as being from the Stone age

However it is certainly foolish to claim that bad laws on marital rape are "stone age"

Am not following your posts JohnD - nobody said you approved of rape.

And 'stone age' is merely a figure of speech.
If a rapist can get out of trouble by marrying his victim, even against her will, then sorry, that's pretty stone age to me. And disgusting.
