Fuel floods out of mower when i pour it in

I used this mower for quite a while & never an issue.
Ive used it this season now for 3 weeks & fine.

Cutting the lawn today it started to chug & i knew it was running low on fuel.
After a short while it stopped.

I poured the fuel in the tank & watched it run out just as fast ??????

Ive taken carb off & blown through inlet pipe where fuel hose was.
Its fine & when i operate the float im then unable to blow unless i let float go.
I cleaned carb anyway & put it back together.

Poured a small amount of fuel in & out it came again.

I can see it coming out of carb where air filter mounts on.
Also the opposite end where carb mounts against that o ring engine side.

Why is it doing this ?

I know its warm & sunny here but surely thats not the answer or is it ?

How can i confirm that, can i do a test somehow to confirm it ?

Ive put the carb in a glass & slowly filled it with water.
I can watch the float rise to the top no problem.

So i would say float is fine

Petrol is less dense than water. If the float is full of petrol it will float in water.

The float seems light meaning no fuel in it.

I just conncted fuel pipe back on & held carb in my hand & fuel came out again.

So answer me this, IT can only be the float at fault here correct ?

Looks fine.
I see fuel coming from between carb / engine block also opposite end towards air filter

I see no fuel in float.
I operate float & unable to blow.
I let got of float & i can blow fine.

I see no reason for it to do this,

So for the 5th time I’ve had it apart & back together again.
Done nothing different & used same parts ie haven’t swapped anything.

I’ve just put fuel in tank & no leaks.
I’ve also just cut my lawn.
Even left it running for a few minutes & mower deck is dry.

Very strange.
Now I need to add 3 extra gardens to my list of jobs tomorrow as had to end early today.

I will check fuel level in tank tomorrow to see if it’s still there or drained out over night.

But a right puzzle of a job

Why is it doing this ?

The float valve is not sealing.

The carb has a float chamber, which is kept constantly topped up to a preset level, controlled by a float, operating a valve. Either the float is sticking down, or the valve is stuck open, so the fuel overflows.

I’ve watched it for 20 minutes and not a drop has come out.
The needle rubber tip seats and that’s it.

Then you had some dirt, or grit jamming the valve seat.

Ah ok.

So next time I hear it chugging stop & fill it up.

Dirt obviously got passed that filter in tank
