Getting into lanes at traffic lights

Does this sound correct?

I was positioned on the xyz road waiting at the lights, when mr abc opted to squeeze passed on the inside hoping to create a lane to allow him to turn left. Unfortunately, there was insufficient space and as we both moved forward our cars collided. I was already occupying the only lane marked turn left or straight ahead.

No miles off

I've got to bring up TWO TIER JUSTICE here folks!

If you live in an occupied area, one of the most visible features of the occupation is the 'do your own thing' type of selfish driving from foreigners. Overtaking on the left is normal and often done at speed, and occasionally on the pavement. The police don't bother. Meanwhile, in your posh towns, you lot are anguishing over the finer points of the Highway Code

Both cars moving

About 50 metres from lights collision occured

Lane markings start about 10 metres from liggtd

What this thread needs is an aerial Google earth view with the car positions clearly marked.

drag race off the lights?

How many seconds / minutes from when he passed you to when the crash occurred?

If you drive into someone it's your fault.
It is incumbent on you to ensure the manoeuvre you intend to make is safe.
You have already said it was you that drove into them.

We have a bit in my town where there's a two lane smaller roundabout, however it then leads in just a relatively short distance to a three lane junction at a larger roundabout. The three lanes are 'turn left' then 'turn left or straight on' then 'turn right'. When it's busier it can be a bit of a free for all as folk wanting to go straight ahead merge from both lanes when coming from the smaller roundabout into the middle lane of the larger roundabout.
