My issue with christianity goes further than not taking the bible literally. I like the well-meaning teachings but don't believe in there being a supernatural being of any kind.

I couldn't go to church and listen to or agree with someone telling me god thinks this or that, or that I should pray to someone or something.

But, given a choice between trusting the average non-believer or a christian, I'd choose the christian without a doubt.

I slightly disagree with some of that. I know from the experience of friends who married Israeli girls, it wasn't easy and their was some rejection on the part of the parents but considering them as 'dirt' might be going a bit far. Yes, they had to convert to Judaism but did so willingly and were accepted into the family, it shouldn't have to be that way but c'est la vie.

I was raised as a Catholic but walked away from it in my teens, my first marriage was in a church to keep mum happy. I've only ever attended churches in the intervening years to attend weddings or funerals, why wouldn't I if that's what other people want to do.

One thing I will say. The Ten Commandments are a fairly sound guide to living a decent life, I score about 7/10.

I don't believe in God, but sometimes, just a few times in my lifetime, things have happened and I can't help feeling that there is some kind of higher power at work, watching over me. It might be b*******s but who cares?
