Nonsense. High streets are being overrun by immigrant barber shops, vape shops, mini markets etc etc...

Big name high street shops have moved to high end, out of town shopping centres. It's been happenig for decades. Don't be such a drama queen.
We have changed the way we shop so the town high streets reflect that.

'Nope' to what? Have you not been outside in the last two or three decades?
From the UK, because they're still made here for defence reasons. I don't think we export them, presumably they're not competitive worldwide.
If that's your best example then it shows how desperately you need to scrape to find something.
So, because one thing is still made here, and it's actually surprising when you find this out, you think this somehow means that UK manufacturing is thriving?!

Niche stuff. Tell me when you remember a mass market consumer product. We still have some car factories, but it's probably fair to say all are threatened.
A lot of big/bulky stuff is still made here, just because the cost of importing the stuff adds a huge percentage to the cost. So they don't get out-competed and get away with selling crap at high prices, e.g. bricks, cement, carpet.
