Has anyone any sympathy?

do you think some might have been undocumented?
People might have noticed when people were being bumped off at a rate of 25,000 a year.

Plus I'm using the work of historians rather than the product of Splines imagination, they estimated 7,000 to 10,000 and I picked the larger number in an effort to be generous and fair.

Henry VIII period was particularly bad, but the idea that "bad" people were executed, is probably not evident. I suspect it was "weaker" people who faced the chop. It might still have led to behaviour changes which drove success.

I'm of the opinion that if we lock up more than 10%, we have a problem with our laws/state, not crime. But nowadays we have a fair few foreign, criminals in prison, so maybe I should question that view.

Or maybe if we don't lock up more than 10% of our 'law makers', we are in danger of ignoring the real crimes that affect the majority of people ;)

A despotic king purging dissidents isn't the same as advocating cutting off peoples hands for theft, or whatever the latest Spline plan is.

You may find the job is as popular as becoming the Supreme Leader of Iran.

Thanks for your alternative viewpoints! It's up to you what you believe, but remember the history books can be very wrong. Events I remember from years ago are regularly being represented incorrectly nowadays. Imagine what official historians will say about 2020s Britain 200 years from now, when we know that our present day news channels don't mention a lot of what goes on, and lie about a lot of what does.

Unless you remember 1 in 10 being executed you can just admit you pulled it out of your rectum and we can move on.
