Help for boiler installed without Bypass and without overrun

Please specify the original fook up.

Yes the pump was in the return, as was the recommended flavour at the time.

Original fook up is whereby YOU fitted the pump to return , did you not consult the manufactures installation manual?

.....and you have the gall to blame someone else for your fook up?

Now let me take a guess.....for the 30 years the original boiler was installed the upstairs radiators needed bleeding frequently?? , especially the radiator closest to the circulator? , Now also admit that when the pump was running the air pins in the upstairs radiators could be removed with no loss of water????

Regarding my above question............

Now no fibbing as you will be asked for height of expansion cistern above circulation pump/highest radiator.....

Nope no problems for 25 years, apart from the boiler gradually giving up the ghost.

Looks like a vast majority of installers are unable to think for themselves and anyone that doesn't agree with them must be an idiot. The fact that a system was working for 25 years without problem doesn't seem to have sunk in. The fact that it was DIY seems to rattle the cages.

The fact that a professional really messed it up, despite being given a free rein, means nothing to you. As far as you are concerned he is allowed to mess things up and not be expected to pay for the mess.

Just been talking to someone this afternoon and mention the problems I've been having. Surprise surprise, someone else that has been foocked up him.

And you want this guy that makes a mess of things to stay in business to mess up other people?

The fact remains that he was given the chance to show that what he did was correct. He failed to do so despite having had sight of my arguments for about 6 months or so and even admitted to the judge under questioning that he had not installed correctly. And he goes out to do it again !!!!

Fact is we have all said the original [sic] installer was a prat.

Fact is your system was installed incorrectly from your own admission.

Fact is you were lucky to have both a fool of a judge as well as a fool of an installer.

Fact is old boilers were more tolerant than new, and you might have thought you got away with problems for 25 years, but in reality you were causing all manner of problems without realising it. This has caught out some one who, as has never been denied, doesn't really know what he is doing.

Fact is the problems with the prat installers work could have been resolved for a few hundred pounds, not a few thousand.

Fact is, by your own admission, the bulk of the remedial work appears to have been mainly your fault.

YOU installed the original system which was not to MI 's , explaining to you the correct method of installation would be futile.

No denying the person who changed the boiler was a prat, but was he a prat because he was bad at his job or a prat because he didn't give a toss at the time because he wasn't making any money and shouldn't have taken the job on in the first place?

Does it matter how the existing was/is installed. the engineer doing the work should make any modifications either in the price or as an extra.

No different if there's a 10mm gas supply, the engineer should make it known to the custard it's a tad undersized and the cost where it's not included in the price

As for a Glowworm and explosive ignition, I thought that was standard.

Why is everyone giving this bloke such a hard time. Yes he installed his own heating system 25 years ago and yes over time it may of contributed to the overall problems but hey how many installers are out there that haven't got a clue how to install a modern boiler properly AND ensure the system has been updated for everything to work properly. Good on you for taking this cowboy to court.
As for the decent installers that want to have a go, just think of how many jobs you have quoted for that you didn't get because of numpty installers like this one that put in cheaper quotes and leave problems. Before anyone pipes up with you get what you pay for, financially things are tight for many people and some make the wrong decisions, which ultimately everyone decent suffers because of.
At the end of the day all this guy had to do was read the boiler instructions and if he couldn't understand the requirements he shouldn't be fitting boilers
