Corned beef is totally different in America. It's a premium deli meat, like pastrami. I've sometimes wondered what an American might think if he ordered a corned been sandwich here.

I love our corned beef, btw. With brown sauce in a sandwich.
I like pastrami too. I went to a deli in New York and had a New Yorker sandwich. It was amazing but the entire process of building the sandwich was hard work. Everything is an option, down to the type of spread or butter you want.

I know. They take it a bit too seriously!

Apparently, pret a manger are doing really well in the USA. Maybe they just like something simple once in a while?

I was overwhelmed at the butter bit so just blurted out 'a new yorker please'
