Lucy Letby case - Evidence discussion thread

No that is untrue, the Police didn't go around beating up people because they were Irish.
The IRA and their political wing were engaged in a terrorist campaign against the British state and its population.
This behaviour led to the inevitable rise of anti Irish sentiment and the prospect public anger being directed at people who were perceived to be supporters of the atrocities of the IRA.
Given the level of provocation from the IRA and its supporters the British response was quite restrained.
Not every Irishman, just the ones that looked guilty

In the case of the Birmingham bombers, the suspects were arrested en route to IRA funeral in Belfast of an IRA bomber who blown himself up while planting a bomb in Birmingham.
I was just outlining the background to the arrests.

In your last post you said the Police were beating people up for being Irish.
I pointed out that the IRA were killing British people in Britain in the name of the Irish people.
What result do you expect in this type of situation, there are no winners in this scenario.

There was an expectation that the police would find the bombers, so they set off to find some Irish men that fitted the bill. The police and the I RA were winners, the 6 and the 4 weren’t.

Bit of an understatement, there was an intense anger and demand for justice at the atrocities, the Police were angry as well and probably convinced themselves that their suspects were guilty.
Same as an innocent woman gets shot in America, despite the available evidence indicating that she was killed unlawfully, the anger in certain sections of society is such, that they convince themselves that she was a terrorist and a threat to society.

They convinced themselves and everyone else. As Hillsborough found they were not above widespread fabrication.
