I installed a magnaclean on my system today, system is one year old vaillant ecotec 831 with 7 brand new rads. The old heating flow and retrn pipes were used.
The system was also power flushed upon commissioning


After installing I ran the system for an hour and got a loads of black crap on the magnet (can't believe how much black crap came out on a powerflushed system

I know the magnaclean has a chemical dosing point, but can I just isolate the magnaclean and take off the top and pour the chemical in and replace the top?

Dont see why not. the air vent on the top is not much use anyway.

I mainly want to fill via the big cup as the cartridge tubes of chemical are a lot more money that the standard bottles.

There's no law against what you propose. If it gets the stuff in your system, and it will then go for it.

That annoys me all the time.

Why it wasn't designed to take 1 litre is beyond me. The 28mm version takes it ok though.

Quite irritating, but not too much of a problem on a rolling program
