Migrant channel crossing deal.

We can stop them coming here, but first we must repeal all ties to the ECHR.
It is very simple.
The hard part is finding someone with the bottle, and backing to do it.
Actually we don’t need to. It was Blair who enshrined it in U.K. Law via the Human Rights act. Just need to amend that - sorted

The dark lord's work once again screws over our country.
The traitorous scumbag.

If we are still in the ECHR, what would stop it going to the human rights court?

Same as with the Human Rights Act. It is not binding.
Not quite. The effect of the human rights act is to bring governance of HR issues into domestic law.

Without it, it becomes much harder and easier to ignore.

Do you think that human rights abuses would go unpunished in the UK, if we were not in the ECHR? Do you imagine the lawyers and the laws protecting folk would just disappear?

How do you mean 'amend that'? What will an amendment sort?

I would also like more detail on what this means.

It would certainly become harder to bring a case. I don't know whether it becomes easier to ignore.

As asked above by noseall, which parts of the HRA would be amended. Do you have a link giving a bit more detail about how it would be done and what the effect would be.

If we left ECHR and also got rid of the Human Rights Act (which brings ECHR into domestic law) you would have to consider what specific laws remained. You would have things like PACE 1984 and equal rights legislation. And presumably several others. But there would be no overarching backstop to prevent human rights abuses. The protections from Magna Carta etc. are pretty thin in most situations.

They need to show that the UK is an awful place to live...cut all benefits to illegal immigrants...nothing, nowt. Not even a penny. Arrive here and you either getting sent back to the country you left or put into hard labour camps for min 5 years, no pay, minimum food...
