In other forums, a new poster's first few posts are held, for moderation, before release. That prevents the floods of ads which this forum regularly suffers, and any poster's posts, can be put back on moderation review at any time should they break the rules.

Most well moderated forums, have a rule of - one poster, one ID, but this forum, very annoyingly - seems to allow account after account to be set up, with the main aim of some being to cause chaos and disruption. Yet it is permitted, maybe even encouraged.

Multiple accounts should be ousted, and members named and shamed.

That's not always possible

I get the impression that accusations of people using multiple accounts are much more widespread than people actually doing it.

If any two posters agree then they get accused of being the same person.

If anyone actually bothers to set up a second account just so they can have an imaginary friend then they deserve sympathy, not hatred.

It's fairy obvious, that some of these people, are long-standing members of the forum, when they launch straight into a discussion, rather than feeling their way, gently in, as a newcomer to the forum would do.

I don't think that's fair. Lots of people post on various forums so are comfortable with the concept. They won't necessarily be all shy and polite.

Plus many read for a long time before joining. So they probably feel like they "know" a few of the regulars already.

It's a basically, a DIY forum - yet these 'characters' immediately launch themselves and stick to the GD section, never posting on anything DIY related. They stand out a mile.

Are there only certain moderators there can approve posts? Only a post I made just two posts on the same page after that in the same thread has been altered, presumably by a moderator. Are there different tiers of moderators in this forum?
Amazingly, the post that caused me to start this thread has been allowed and published. That’s a first for me.

I still can’t see why it needed moderating though, can anybody?

The forum software does that not the mods.

It's a word that's the problem, it's obvious which one and it's not "attack".

You triggered an automatic hold, for what I'd say are understandable reasons.
