I think I remember muesli coming out in the shops.

Does anyone else? When was it?

Um, I mean when it was launched as a new product type thing.

have you tried google?

nuts, almonds raisin, sultanas, new google museli

I remember when yogurt first came out, it was just plain yogurt and some people pretended that they liked it  my sister was one of them

you mean the stuff they scrape up from the bottom of hamster cages and sell as alpen? i remember it as the 70s

Reasearch done by weetabix in 60's & Alpen launched in 1971.

Maybe in this country, otherwise it's over a hundred years old.

My first memory of muesli goes back to the beginning of 1973. By this time there was Alpen, which had too much wheat germ for my liking, and Country Store, which was sickly sweet. A friend of ours who was way ahead of his time introduced us to 'real' muesli from the only health food shop in town. They mixed it up in the shop and sold it loose but it cost too much for students who had to survive on grants so we made our own from oat flakes and sultanas. That same friend then gave us all a good laugh by trying to find organic salt!

Damn, I couldn't afford grants when I was a student. Had to live on meths & cookin' sherry.

Aroung the time when people started having guinea pigs as pets ???

Igorian, I was reduced to making my own sherry. I put a two litre tub of home made wine in the freezer overnight. Next day I turned the frozen block out into a big strainer and began to sample the liquid that dripped from it's bottom corner. It was ice cold and it tasted exactly like the sweet white wine I started out with, so that was a waste of time.

But as I drank more of it I noticed two things: firstly, the block of frozen wine was turning very pale at the top and, secondly, the floor was no longer level! Happy days.
